About this experience
Experience this stunning waterfall with Joyful Safaris and Tours, one of the tallest in the region, where crystal-clear glacial water cascades from a height of 70 meters into a beautiful natural pool. The scenic hike to Materuni Waterfall, located about 2,500 meters above sea level, takes you through lush valleys and hills covered in tropical rainforest, passing local coffee, banana, and avocado shambas (farms).
After enjoying a delicious local lunch, your journey continues to the refreshing Chemka Hot Springs.
The Guide will pick you up from Materuni after lunch and transfer you to the hot springs. The drive takes approximately 40 minutes along a scenic but bumpy and winding road. Upon arrival, you can swim in the clear, warm waters, relax under the sun, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. If you wish, we can also arrange a barbecue for you to enjoy while you unwind.

This very impressive waterfall is one of the tallest in the area. On your journey with Joyful Safaris and Tours, you’ll pass through valleys and hills blanketed in tropical rainforest, as well as coffee, banana, and avocado shambas—the Swahili word for farms.
You’ll depart from Materuni waterfalls and drive to Maji Moto. This scenic drive takes you off the tourist trail and offers a glimpse into local life: bustling markets and local farms. You’ll then spend a few hours soaking in the pleasantly warm waters, swinging on the rope swing, relaxing in the sun- dappled shade of the trees, and feasting on local favorites such as chips mayai
Meeting and pickup information
- Our driver will be holding a sign with your name and our company logo for easy identification. The vehicle will also be clearly marked with Joyful Safaris and Tours stickers on the sides and wheel covers. Please be ready at least 30 minutes early to ensure a smooth and timely departure.
