About this experience
Mikumi is one of the most accessible Tanzanian parks from Dar es Salaam, making it an ideal destination for short or weekend safaris without the need for long flights to northern parks like the Serengeti or Ngorongoro. The park boasts abundant wildlife, including elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, zebras, and wildebeest, as well as primates such as baboons and vervet monkeys. With over 400 recorded bird species, it is also a paradise for birdwatchers. Unlike the busier northern parks, Mikumi offers a tranquil and authentic safari experience, allowing visitors to enjoy wildlife viewing in a more intimate and relaxed setting without large tour groups or crowded trails.
